Up the Hill at
Paul and Margaret Swansons
Summer 1979
I remember one summer solstice we joined the neighbors for a huge bonfire and
potluck at the Swansons. We ate and played most all night.  The view from the
Swansons looked out over the valley and we could see the McKinley range.  We
watched the sun go down one side of Mt McKinley and back up the other side in
one-half hour. That was all the night there was.  What a wonderful memory of good
friends, neighbors, and loving kindness.
Aunt Jessie and Clarence Frank were visiting the Brokaws this summer. Clarence
Frank is at the end of the table.  Gail is across  from the Swansons. Heather is
talking to their dog and Julia is on this end.
Jinny Kirk at Heather Brokaw's Birthday
Party August 1979.
Jinny brought a container of 100
"pennies from heaven" and an
umbrella for when it rained those
pennies from heaven.  What a cute
idea, Jinny!

This is a side view taken
from our house right in
back of the Post Office.
Sled dogs in the yard
adjacent to ours.
That was a joy living
next to the dogs and
seeing their
excitement when it
was time to get in the
truck.  They were so
well behaved.  It was
amazing!
This a photo of
our backyard.  I
remember berries
growing under the
birch trees in the
summer and
poisonous red
mushrooms with
white dots
throughout the
yard.  Right above
the treeline was
the road up to the
Swanson's house.
